My Campaign Story

I first ran for School Committee in 2025 out of concern with how decisions were being made, particularly around the school start times vote. The process felt rushed and lacked the organization, clear planning, and meaningful community input that such an important decision deserved. After the vote, I organized a petition calling for reconsideration, citing significant oversights and proposing an alternative that better aligned with community needs and subcommittee goals. While I was ultimately told reconsideration was not possible due to administrative constraints and contract deadlines, I believed those challenges could have been avoided with stronger planning.

Although I was not elected last year, I have remained actively engaged—attending meetings regularly and continuing to collaborate with School Committee members where possible. During that time, I have observed many of the same patterns I found concerning, including limited transparency and a tendency to dismiss community feedback. These experiences are a large part of why I have decided to run again.

As the district moves forward with an exciting—but also significant—new high school project through the MSBA, I believe it is essential to have leadership committed to transparency, collaboration, and honest communication at every stage. I will take the time to consider multiple perspectives, respond thoughtfully to concerns, and ensure that data and decision-making processes are clearly shared with the community. My goal is to support a timeline that is thorough, responsible, and well-planned, so families, students, and taxpayers can make informed decisions with confidence.

A recent example of my advocacy work includes pushing for the inclusion of the Director of Social Emotional Learning & Equity on the Superintendent Search Committee. As a parent of two neurodivergent children, I understand how important it is to have leadership that prioritizes SEL and DEI while supporting all students. Because Social-Emotional Learning is a core pillar of the district’s Strategic Plan, I was concerned that this expertise was initially missing from the Screening Team. After several weeks of discussion, consistent outreach, and collaboration with a local advocacy group, we were able to successfully add that role to the committee.

Recently, the School Committee indicated interest in appointing me to complete the remaining one-year of Joe Paru’s term, following his resignation. Although I am extremely grateful for the endorsement from the entire School Committee, my decision to decline the appointment comes from a deep respect for the democratic process and a belief that the community’s voice should guide this decision. I am wildly excited that there are 3 seats available and I am very confident each of the 3 candidates will serve in some capacity next year, whether it be a 3-year term or an appointment. I remain fully committed to serving Holliston with integrity, transparency, and dedication.

Looking ahead, I want to ensure we continue addressing ongoing challenges, including school start times. Over the past year, many families—especially those from Placentino—have shared their experiences and concerns with me. With the district facing so many promising and demanding opportunities, it’s important that these voices are not overlooked. Related issues also deserve attention, such as late evening school events that can impact student sleep, and safety concerns with the elementary drop-off route during winter months, when congestion and snow accumulation can create risks for families and limit emergency access.

Above all, I am committed to representing our community and ensuring that Holliston families and taxpayers feel heard, respected, and supported. While I will work collaboratively with administrators and educators, my responsibility is to advocate for the community and ensure concerns are addressed in meaningful and constructive ways. This is a pivotal time for our schools—one that calls for thoughtful leadership, strong collaboration, and a renewed focus on doing what is best for students. I believe our children and community deserve leaders who are ready to work together, find solutions, and create an environment where every student can succeed. I bring the time, energy, and commitment needed to make careful, informed decisions, and I believe that strong schools are the foundation of a strong community. I am dedicated to helping Holliston schools continue to grow and thrive as a source of pride for us all.
